Do's and Dont's of Acne Prevention

You may have read in other articles that poor hygiene or eating certain foods are not the real cause of acne. You yourself can make it worse or control it. Here is a list of practical tips that you can do to take control of acne. They are easy to remember for you to keep on track when it comes to preventing and controlling acne. A blemish-free skin is one our best assets.

Do's

Choose skincare products that are oil-free and labeled as non-comedogenic. These products will not clog pores which is can trigger acne.

Basic skincare regimen should include using a mild cleanser and applying non-comedogenic sunscreen on exposed areas.

Wash your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser and dry by patting.

Clean your face well. Make sure that make-up are totally removed.

When undergoing any type of acne treatment, be patient when it comes to seeing results.

Check for any improvement after 4 months of using an ance remedy. Check if unaffected areas are still free from acne.

When you are on an acne treatment, avoid tanning and sun exposure. Some of them can make your skin ultra sensitive and may lead to redness and irritation.

Use an oil-free moisturizer whenever you experience dryness, redness and skin irritation.

You can skip daily application of a topical anti-acne cream if you develop redness and dryness. You can use it every other day instead.

Keep your hair clean and away from your face. Dirt and oil from your hair can transfer to your skin pores which will lead to acne.

Heavy make-up can make your acne worse. Use light-weight make-up like those water-based and non-comedogenic products.

Never prick your pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and even acne lesions.

Only choose and use gentle cleansers and exfoliants. Some are too harsh which will cause irritation and then acne.

Avoid things that contribute to acne like oil and dirt.

Never leave make-up on. Wash your face thoroughly before bedtime.

Refrain from using heavily-scented and alcohol-based skincare products.

When using hair styling products like sprays and gels, make sure that they will not touch your face.

Skip sunbasking and tanning.Protect yourself from the sun by using a gentle sunscreen and protective clothing.

Keep headbands and hats from your forehead. Dirt can make your acne worse.

Keep your hands off from your face. Oil and dirt from your hands will worsen acne.

Pimples and acne do not show unto your skin's surface no matter how ripe they look. When you spot them, treat them right away with the right products. Most of the time, you will start seeing results within weeks but continuous use for at least 2 months is required to see best results.
